Beskrivning
Outline of the storyA travelling priest hailed a strange looking old man who suddenly appeared. Instead of answering the priest, the old man took out a big paintbrush from amongst his clothes and started drawing the sky, mountains, waterfalls, human beings and big waves in the air. Then, the background changed completely and turned into great waves. The old man, Hokusai, vanished somewhere.
After a while, the spirits of a small white wave and a big blue wave, coming out from Hokusai’s painting, appear on the stage as if they are attracted to the sound of waves made by the musicians. Both waves start dancing like the movement of Hokusai’s paintbrush and gradually disappear between the waves.
SAKURAMA GROUP is a traditional and famous Noh family. The leading actor in this performance, Ujin Sakurama, is the 21st present head of a long lasting family going back to the 12th century and has appeared in many performances in Japan as well as abroad. The musicians in the group are also representatives of famous houses and their skills and wonderful instruments are highly appreciated.
